Before taking this class I did not know much about Journalism. All I really knew was reporters report whats going on and sometimes they dig to deep and reveal information that maybe should not be said.
At the beginning of this class I was not sure what to expect. Throughout the class I discovered many things from writing good news stories to what to avoid when reporting/interviewing on an incident that has occurred.
I will have to say that I did not realize what reporters go through when reporting a story. I give them a lot of credit for what they do. There is no way that I would be able to handle the pressures and the rudeness from people.
This class has given me an easier outlook when writing papers that I will take with me to my next classes. When I look back on previous papers I have written for other classes, I think to myself man these are BORING!!! but that's because I did not know really how to jazz it up! I do know and I think its going to benefit me in the long run!!
Isn't it funny how experience in one form of writing benefits another?
ReplyDeleteI would totally agree with you about the pressure of journalism - that was something that struck me about this profession.
I've looked at some of my previous papers too and noticed how boring they were. It's interesting how our perspectives can change when we learn new styles of writing.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it is funny how papers we once thought were decent now seem dull and unappealing. It goes to show how much we have learned :)
ReplyDeleteThe pressures and danger that journalists go through really struck me too. I also would never be able to handle the stress they go through.
ReplyDeleteAs an instructor, it just thrills my soul to hear comments like this: "This class has given me an easier outlook when writing papers that I will take with me to my next classes." I hope that you do apply what you've learned in this class when writing other papers, Nicole! Anything benefits from being written succinctly, with strong verbs and with the perfect word (instead of a bunch of less than great ones).
ReplyDeleteI wish you luck in all of your future endeavors, and hope you keep writing!
